There is something magical about Richmond in December. Lights go up, the James River gets its sparkle on, and the whole region leans into that cozy, community feel that makes this place special. Dominion Energy Christmas Parade, Richmond. A long-loved RVA tradition rolling down Broad Street with floats, marching bands, and crowds full of happy chaos.
Lewis Ginter GardenFest of Lights, Lakeside. More than a million lights, fire pits, hot chocolate, and beautiful themed displays through the gardens. This one is a local must.
Kings Dominion WinterFest, Doswell. A full holiday theme park experience with live shows, ice skating, light tunnels, treats, and rides for all ages.
Busch Gardens Christmas Town, Williamsburg. A quick and gorgeous drive for one of the biggest holiday light displays in the country. Warm drinks, European village vibes, and spectacular shows.
Tacky Light Tour, RVA Region. A Richmond classic that never loses its charm. Either map your route or hop on a Tacky Light Tour bus and soak in the glittering displays.
Illuminate Light Show and Santa’s Village, Meadow Event Park. Drive through animated holiday light displays then stop into Santa’s Village for treats and photo ops.
