Your House Is Trying to Tell You Something

The little things around your house have a funny way of becoming expensive things when you ignore them.

A dripping faucet, drafty window, strange appliance noise, or clogged gutter might not feel urgent, but catching small problems early can save you money and help protect the value of your home.

A few things worth keeping an eye on:

  • Leaks: Check faucets, drains, under sinks, and around your water heater.

  • HVAC & safety: Change filters and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

  • Windows & doors: Check for drafts, damaged caulk, or worn weatherstripping.

  • Appliances: Pay attention to new noises, smells, or changes in performance.

  • Roof & gutters: Look for damaged shingles and keep gutters and downspouts clear.

  • Trees & landscaping: Trim branches away from your roof and siding.

  • Pests & moisture: Watch for signs of termites, water damage, or unwanted moisture.

And remember, knowing when to call a professional is part of good home maintenance too - I have a list of different service providers that will take excellent care of my clients. Just reach out if you need somebody.

You don’t have to obsess over your house! Just pay attention to the little stuff before it becomes the big stuff.
