A Richmond Local’s Bucket List

Richmond Activities

Ever wonder what Richmond locals do for fun? Here's a list of a few must do's in the Richmond area - if you've lived here for any length of time you have done at least 3, possibly multiple times! Cheers to a summer of fun and togetherness with those you love!

  1. Walk or bike the Virginia Capital Trail: A scenic, paved trail running from Richmond to Williamsburg - perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.

  2. Explore Carytown: A lively shopping and dining district known for its local boutiques, coffee shops, and the historic Byrd Theatre.

  3. Float or kayak on the James River: Locals love tubing, kayaking, and swimming in the James - especially near Belle Isle and Pony Pasture.

  4. Check out the murals and art scene: Take a mural walk in the Arts District or explore the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, which offers free admission.

  5. Visit Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (Henrico County): Gorgeous themed gardens, a conservatory, and seasonal events like the popular GardenFest of Lights.

  6. Spend a day at Maymont (West End): A 100-acre historic estate with gardens, animals, a mansion tour, and plenty of space to relax or picnic.

  7. Take in a show or concert at Altria Theater (Monroe Park area/Midtown): Catch a Broadway show or concert in this stunning, historic venue just west of downtown.

  8. Explore Pocahontas State Park (Chesterfield County): One of Virginia’s largest state parks, offering hiking, biking, camping, and a summertime water park.

I hope you decide to try something new this summer, let me know how it goes!
